Our Fall Fund Drive brochure, will go out the middle of September asking the community for continued financial support. Please give generously. The squad funds all equipment from bandaids, oxygen, and AED's to ambulances through donations from citizens.
If you are interested in becoming a member of the Department of Emergency Medical Services, call 757-437-4850 for details. No experience is necessary, all training is provided by the City.
(Kempsville Volunteer Rescue Squad does not participate in phone solicitation to accomplish our fund drive.)

I am pleased to announce that Tim McKinney has been appointed Public Relations Officer for KVRS. He has enlisted the assistance of Tom Kiernan and Kevin Lipscomb to work on his first task - a press release announcing our partnership with the Salem High School detachment of the ROTC. Tim also has his first committee member - Kevin Lipscomb. Tim will function as our liason with Beth Harders at the Admin Office, coordinate any speaking engagements for the squad such as civic league meetings, make sure any public awareness presentations are covered, and of course handle any press releases both internal and external. Tim will be asking members of the squad for assistance with various speaking engagements. Tim will also be responsible for the Public Relations voice mailbox. I am very excited, as is Tim, to have this vital position up and functioning for the Squad. Thank you Tim, for accepting this vital position for our squad.

I would like to thank Chris Born, Tom Kiernan, and the Salem HS NJROTC for the extra effort they supplied to clean out the metal lockers in the bay. This much needed project will make it easier to locate the items we need to keep the units running smoothly. The vehicle fluids are organized and the light bulbs are easier to find. The extra room available made it possible for the Squad Truck to get it's own shelf. Great work, guys!

I just got my pass to get on and wanted to test it out. This is a great way to get a lot of info out quickly. I have just about finished the proposal to integrate the SALEM HS detachment of the ROTC into the squads activities and will poist it for review shortly. I appreciate all the interest shown by many of you and would welcome any comments or suggestions you might have.
Status of the trophy cases. At Cathy Budy's request we removed all the trophies from the bunkroom and the case out in the hall . The fireman have agreed to help get the cases over to the SHriners hall as they are very interested in them. Seemed better than junking them. The fireman also had a great idea for the old trophies. They suggested that we take the ID plates off of them and put them on a large polished piece of wood to act as a legacy board so that the history surrounding the trophies will remain without the dust collecting trophies. I have see this before and I can't believe I didn't think of it myself. It will look great in the day room ! Ihave all the trophies in my garage and have removed the plates and many of the other parts of the trophies that we can use on the board. If Denny can make the board we can easily attatch the plates . I'll get with Denny and work it out.
We also got two new hoses and attatched them to the pump in the front of the rescue bay for use in washing the trucks. After tightening up the attatchment to the wall for the hose reel and closing up all the leaks it worked great and reaches to all areas of the bays. Helps with indoor washing . We need a vacuum though as the one in the cleaning gear locker is totally unsat.
If anyone has any project ideas the kids are up for anything !
